The Electronic Attack Systems Analyst will be responsible for developing electronic attack mission libraries for the Royal Canadian Navy at the Naval Electronic Warfare Centre (CGEN) in Ottawa, Canada. The analyst will be embedded within CGEN to develop engagement models as part of the Ship Air Defence Model (SADM) and to use other modelling and simulation tools to create and test mission libraries. Engagement models may include the ship, the environment, sensors (radar, electro-optical and infrared), electronic attack means (chaff, decoys and jammers) as well as threat-related systems. The Electronic Attack Systems Analyst will also be responsible for documentation and for verification and validation of the numerical models. Other responsibilities may include support for shore and at-sea trials.
Responsibilities
- Perform technical analyses and research in unclassified and classified documents on system parameters and behaviours
- Perform first-principles mathematical modelling to estimate system parameters
- Develop parametric models
- Conduct simulated engagements between different entities (ship, threat-related systems)
- Run simulations and Monte Carlo analyses
- Perform analysis and verification activities to confirm system model behaviours
- Document simulation results
What you bring to the role
- A bachelor's degree in mathematics, physics, or engineering related to the role with five years of professional experience, or a master's degree with three years of experience
- Experience in radar system design, and radar signal processing and analysis
- Radio-frequency theory
- Ability to obtain a Secret-level security clearance
- Canadian citizenship
Security requirements: Controlled Goods Program; NATO Secret.
Additional desired skills
- Master's or doctoral degree in mathematics, physics, or engineering
- Experience with physics-based modelling and simulation using SADM, MATLAB/Simulink
- Design and analysis of electronic warfare systems
- Implementation of electronic attack and electronic protection concepts and systems
- Design and analysis of electronic support measures
- Antenna design and analysis
- Experience with guided weapon systems (autopilots, tracking, guidance, navigation and control)
- Modelling and simulation of military systems
