What are your contributions to the team?

  • Perform the integration of the FBW & Secondary Flight Controls system on the aircraft.
  • Support the development of concepts, design approach and philosophy with the Flight Control system supplier.
  • Perform and review analysis to evaluate concepts feasibility.
  • Develop, validate and verify technical requirements of the Flight Control System.
    • Review and prepare technical requirements
    • Review and prepare test procedures
    • Execute test rig and/or aircraft testing
    • Review and prepare test reports in support of certification activities
  • Resolve problems arising from in-service aircraft.
    • Troubleshooting, root cause determination, corrective action definition and execution
  • Ensure compliance to the ARP4754 development process.
  • Support trade-off studies and life cycle cost analysis for future programs.
  • Ensure the design process and the resulting equipment implementation is in line with Bombardier's requirements and standards.

Occasional trips to suppliers' facilities and regulatory authorities, as well as on-site support to the Final Assembly Line (Toronto & Montreal), Completion Centers (Montreal), and Flight Test Center (Wichita).

How to thrive in this role?

  • You hold a bachelor's degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering and have a minimum of 7 years' experience in an aerospace-related field.
  • You have been directly involved in the definition and certification of at least one FBW and/or Secondary Flight Control system.
  • You possess a good understanding of all facets of system definition, integration, and certification and have knowledge of aircraft systems and interfaces (e.g., electrical, hydraulic, avionics, auto-flight).
  • You have knowledge of the Part 25 certification process.
  • Experience in modeling and dynamic simulation of flight controls electrical and hydraulic actuators is an asset.
  • You have a working knowledge of MATLAB/Simulink/Stateflow simulation environment.
  • Some familiarity with other simulation environments such as ADAMS, or design tools such as CATIA, would be an asset.
  • Good knowledge of MS Office and Requirements Management tools is an asset.
  • Soft skills:
    • Excellent oral presentation in English and French.
    • Technical writing skills in English are required (French is an asset).
    • Ability to work with limited supervision, be organized, a team player, self-motivated, customer focused, and able to work under pressure.
    • Show initiative, innovation, a strong sense of responsibility and integrity, adaptability, good interpersonal communication skills, sound engineering judgement, and a drive for results.
