Position Summary
Thales is looking to hire a Maintenance Coordinator who will provide work package support to the Ship Maintenance Leads and the broader Service Delivery team, managing and coordinating assigned Technical Support Network (TSN) sub-contractors during each work period. This role ensures that TSNs complete all agreed maintenance activities to the required quality in a safe and environmentally friendly manner. TSNs deliver complete Objective Quality Evidence (OQE) for all completed tasks; the Maintenance Coordinator manages special tools and test equipment loaned to TSNs; manages material expended or returned by TSNs; and ensures maintenance data is updated in the Defense Resource Management Information System (DRMIS). Reporting to the NEM Liaison & Service Delivery Team Lead, the Maintenance Coordinator assists Ship Maintenance Leads in generating and managing reports and other documentation required to plan, execute and close out each work period.
Key Areas of Responsibility
- Provide general project support and administration to the Waterfront Service Delivery Team; review and ensure maintenance instructions are complete and sufficient for service providers to complete assigned maintenance operations.
- Assist assigned Ship Maintenance Lead with work period planning; oversee maintenance activities conducted by service providers to ensure the work meets required quality, safety and environmental standards; compile Work Item closure reports, ensure completeness and accuracy, and enter them into the designated project tool.
- Generate and manage documentation and reports (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) as required in support of the Service Delivery Team; ensure subcontracted service providers have necessary paperwork and materials to complete tasks.
- Support Corrective Maintenance Ship Maintenance Lead with tracking and resolution of corrective maintenance/operational deficiencies; attend meetings and prepare agendas and minutes; ensure service provider records are complete and up to date; ensure compliance with health and safety requirements; update DRMIS with corrective and preventative maintenance records; assist in onsite management of the Worker Access Management System.
Basic Qualifications
- Minimum 2-year technical program diploma from a recognized technical institute, university degree, or certification as a technician by a recognized provincial licensing body in a relevant marine field; or certified as Navy QL 6 and above for RCN technical trades.
- Experience in procurement, project management or operations is highly desirable; project experience interfacing between internal and external stakeholders.
- Minimum two years' experience working within the military or on an industrial contract/project is desirable; experience with DRMIS or comparable document management systems is advantageous.
- Experience with SAP or comparable enterprise resource planning / asset management software is advantageous.
- Previous experience in ship refit and repair activities is advantageous.
Physical Demands
- Predominantly working onsite in the Naval Dockyard and onboard naval vessels; will also be required to work from the office or from home.
- Required to undertake inspections, including confined space entry on naval ships, involving bending, twisting and tasks that may require working at heights.
Special Position Requirements
- Work will occur on office sites and naval ships alongside in harbour or at sea; must meet federal government requirements to access Canadian government facilities, including naval dockyards.
- Occasional domestic or international travel is required, which may include access to government facilities and assets, including naval vessels.
