As the Director of Commercial Expansion at Rheinmetall Canada, your main challenge will be to generate a significant volume of orders from strategic opportunities in Canada and internationally. You will lead the development and positioning of Rheinmetall Canada's capabilities in the air defence and surveillance markets, from the decision to bid through to contract award.

Primary responsibilities

  • Secure significant contract wins from strategic opportunities in Canada and internationally.
  • Support the development and positioning of capabilities to win market share in the defence domain and other strategic markets.
  • Develop and implement major opportunity/strategies as well as prospecting and follow-up plans.
  • Develop innovative proposals and deliver strategic presentations to management.
  • Lead complex pursuit and capture teams, collaboratively developing key arguments and strategy to win contracts.
  • Ensure strategic positioning of Rheinmetall Canada with all levels of government.
  • Continuously monitor competing offers in the market and emerging technologies.
  • Communicate and implement the capture management plan, including sale pricing, competitive analysis and cost-based design, and lead a large multidisciplinary resource team in accordance with the plan.

Qualifications we are looking for

  • Hold an engineering degree and an MBA, or an equivalent qualification.
  • Have at least 10 years of experience in the defence and security sector.
  • Have experience or in-depth knowledge of Canadian government procurement mechanisms.
  • Have experience in strategic and tactical planning, as well as implementing large-scale projects worth several million dollars.
  • Possess strong skills in strategic partnerships, collaboration agreements and subcontractor positioning.
  • Have strong business acumen combined with well-rounded negotiation skills.
  • Have strong financial skills in estimating, cost consolidation and proactive risk management.
  • Be ambitious, motivated, positive and dynamic, with excellent influencing skills.
  • Fluency in English (spoken and written); French proficiency would be an asset.
