Lead a team dedicated to supporting Design with manufacturing expertise and addressing all producibility and manufacturing-related issues across Operations' producers (Supply Chain, Internal Manufacturing and Partnerships) for turbomachinery components designed by P&WC.
This is a full-time position from Monday to Friday with flexible hours, based in Longueuil, and performed exclusively on-site.
What will your day-to-day look like?
- Lead a team of manufacturing experts located in Canada and Poland to address all aspects related to the producibility of parts for current and future engines, with a focus on Manufacturing Engineering Parts of Concern (WIM-1048).
- Create and implement methods, tools, and metrics to achieve manufacturing-ready designs resulting in parts that can be delivered ZNC (Zero Non-Conformance) on time, repeatably, at target cost and producible by different suppliers. Be responsible within the IPT for approval of manufacturing aspects of drawings.
- Support, with the NPI IPTs and Industrialization organization, reviews for turbomachinery module components, sourcing and manufacturing strategy (including PPAP plan with a list of unique part numbers and mitigations for common hardware issues).
- Develop producibility knowledge documentation based on market feedback and new technologies.
- Contribute to cost reduction strategies at the turbomachinery module level, in cooperation with Strategic Sourcing and producer representatives.
- Ensure commitments, budget tracking and resource planning are met.
What do you need to be successful?
- Engineering degree with a minimum of 15 years of relevant experience. Master’s in mechanical engineering is an asset.
- Capability to manage a team and demonstrate strong leadership.
- Strong communication skills (internal and external), accountability and good organization. Ability to create, lead and implement a vision, mission and sense of belonging for the department (employees in Canada, Europe and cooperation with Cyient in India).
- Excellent understanding of manufacturing methods and production readiness approaches (such as MRL, APQP and SPC - Process Certification).
- Good understanding of gas turbines and associated quality processes.
- Solid knowledge of RLPM (MMP 220), IPT (MMP 219) and Transition (MMP 300) processes and methodologies.
- Understanding of the Turbomachinery module's producibility objectives (stable and predictable cost and quality, consistent manufacturing process).
- Maintain constant interaction with MED and PWEH to leverage the latest technological advancements in mechanical manufacturing.
- Promote the ability, with your team of experts, to influence design teams to use appropriate and innovative manufacturing processes to meet module performance, quality, and cost objectives.
- Participate as required in manufacturing technology research in collaboration with MED, PWC internal operations, Engineering R&T and PWEH.
- Demonstrate adaptability and the ability to work under pressure and accommodate priority changes.
- Available for travel sometimes on short notice and to support off-hour requests.
- Position is in a French-speaking work environment; a very good knowledge of English is required to read and communicate technical documentation daily.
