The A220 commercial aircraft Programme is looking for 1 Toolmaker to join our tooling department team based in Mirabel (Québec, Canada), where you will work with tooling department.

You will be part of the tooling team responsible to support the production and work in conjunction with the tooling method group.

The team organization is established to promote cross-collaboration autonomously, supporting each other and learning collectively.

Your role as a Toolmaker will be to build, modify, repair, and maintain the mechanical tools, jigs, and equipment used in the manufacturing, assembly, and maintenance of aircraft. You must master general mechanical, machining, and tooling skills.

Your challenges

  • Read and interpret mechanical tooling plans, 3D models, and technical specifications;
  • Manufacture, assemble, and adjust mechanical components for the creation or modification of jigs and production tools;
  • Operate conventional machine tools (milling machine, lathe, drill press, etc.) or CNC machines to machine parts with precision;
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical faults and malfunctions on production tools and equipment;
  • Ensure the conformity and dimensional calibration of tooling using precision measuring instruments (metrology);
  • Participate in the continuous improvement and design of mechanical tooling systems;
  • Advise supervisor of any broken or defective tools and/or equipment used;
  • Participate in the training of new employees and/or trainees on the mechanical aspect of tooling;
  • Enforce company Occupational Health and Safety rules at all times.

Your boarding pass

  • DEP (Diploma of Vocational Studies) in Toolmaking, Machining, or AEC in Tooling/Mechanics (or relevant field) with 3 years of experience;
  • Hands-on experience in manufacturing, fitting, and assembling mechanical tools;
  • Proficiency in reading mechanical blueprints and using precision measurement instruments;
  • Experience in aerospace and/or jig manufacturing is an asset;
  • Applied, rigorous and organized;
  • Great attention to detail and precision;
  • Analytical mind and problem solving skills;
  • Strength and manual dexterity;
  • Possible on-call duties during week-ends and/or holiday seasons.
