Job Description

Do you have experience in mechanical design and systems, have you worked in aerospace, and do you want to grow and develop new skills? This position is for you.

We are looking for a Design & Integration Professional - Fuselage Structures, Door Mechanisms and Compliance to join our Fuselage & Doors Design team based in Mirabel (Quebec, Canada). You will collaborate with fuselage design, stress analysis, materials and processes, program teams, final line support and many others.

You will be part of the Fuselage and Doors structures team responsible for developing innovative solutions for long-term product improvements, supporting the final assembly line and in-service aircraft while ensuring regulatory compliance of the product.

As a designer-integrator, your role will be to conduct trade studies, develop technical solutions, present them at various reviews, and revise and approve engineering documents (2D, 3D, reports).

Responsibilities

  • Conduct trade studies on door infrastructure types, document the investigation, produce reports, and develop concepts and 3D models of mechanisms, structures and system installations.
  • Produce an engineering cost-impact analysis for the design, collect engineering function costs, and enable the collection of cost-impact data for all stakeholders involved in the project.
  • Manage project responsibilities for changes where your group will be the owner.
  • Collaborate closely with DAD, ensuring compliance with regulations, design principles, processes, methods and applicable manufacturing capability guidelines.
  • Communicate and arbitrate among various MFT functions such as stress analysis, systems, manufacturing, structure suppliers, the program office, logistics and quality to develop new designs and resolve issues.
  • Manage priorities, ensure adherence to change management plans and implement recovery plans to meet deadlines.
  • Work to reduce non-conformities, analyze root causes and improve efficiency within your area and across the company.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree, college technical diploma in engineering, aerospace or equivalent, and relevant experience in the design and manufacturing of aircraft doors.
  • Strong knowledge of product-related aviation regulations, particularly CAR 525.783.
  • Action-oriented with a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership, judgment, flexibility, initiative and ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Strong sense of commitment, ability to meet tight deadlines and a sense of urgency.
  • Solid knowledge of aircraft doors and structures, compliance, detailed design (sheet metal, machined parts, mechanisms and component assembly), system installations, configuration management principles, design for manufacturing, weight control, cost and schedule.
  • Proficient in CATIA design software and the Google suite.
  • Proficient in English (advanced level, spoken and written) and understanding of French.
