Job description

Support the platform delivery team for the River-class destroyer program by assessing the completeness of deliverables from the warship designer (BAE Systems Surface Ships Ltd. [BAE]) in preparation for the final design review.

The platform delivery team is multidisciplinary and includes naval architects, electrical engineers, mechanical engineers and naval engineers working within collaborative product teams. Your role will support platform leadership in managing contractual deliverables to the shipbuilder (Irving Shipbuilding Inc. [ISI]) and in assessing design completeness, technical gaps to be addressed, and associated risks.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and own engineering processes.
  • Work with technical risk owners to develop mitigation plans.
  • Coordinate the collection of evidence for design gate reviews.
  • Apply systems engineering fundamentals to requirements and change management processes.

Qualifications

  • Current student in a program related to science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM).
  • Working knowledge of the Microsoft suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Ability to work well in a team.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Results-oriented attitude and initiative.
  • Eligibility for a NATO Secret level security clearance (e.g., 10 years in Canada or prior NATO Secret clearance documentation).

Additional desired skills

  • Availability for at least eight (8) months.
  • Experience with IBM DOORS.
  • Valid NATO Secret level security clearance.
  • Experience with Agile processes, ideally with JIRA.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Excel.
  • Experience with Visio.
  • Experience in Agile development.
  • Experience developing metrics using tools such as Tableau, Python, and SQL.
