Job Description

The A220 commercial aircraft program is looking for a Software Certification and Tool Qualification Specialist to join the Systems Competency Center team based in Mirabel (Quebec, Canada). You will work with a cross-functional team including Chief Engineering, Program, Methods, Production, Customer Service, Quality, etc.
You will be part of the Electrical Systems Competency Center team responsible for:
- Design of advanced systems and technical expertise
- Design assurance and problem resolution
- Supplier management, technical integration and cross-functional collaboration
Your role within the Electrical Systems Competency Center will be to lead and manage the end-to-end lifecycle of specialized tools used to generate Field Loadable Software (FLS). This role acts as the primary technical liaison with the external supplier to oversee application software partitioning and the development of configuration tools. You will define operational processes for the new tool, ensure supplier deliverables meet airworthiness and certification standards, and ensure schedule, budget and quality are met in a complex, multidisciplinary environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership and drive integration, development, qualification and certification of an FLS generation tool
- Lead the tool qualification and certification process in accordance with RTCA DO-330 and DO-178C standards
- Produce and review all required certification documentation, including tool qualification/certification plans and software accomplishment summaries
- Act as the primary technical point of contact with the supplier during tool development
- Supervise the architectural transition of application software by the supplier to enable extraction of a configurable partition managed by the new tool
- Monitor supplier progress to ensure all technical deliverables comply with project plans and requirements
- Lead design reviews as a technical reviewer with the system supplier and certification authorities to ensure design objectives are met
- Collaborate closely with internal functions such as Production, Customer Support, Program Office, Procurement and Product Planning to ensure feasibility, cost-effectiveness and downstream compliance
- Define and document end-to-end processes for using the new FLS generation tools
- Define and implement a comprehensive verification and validation plan to ensure tool output compliance
- Develop automated regression test suites to validate tool performance
Requirements
- University degree in electrical, software or aerospace engineering or equivalent
- At least eight (8) years of relevant experience in development, verification, testing and certification of safety-critical aircraft system software
- Expertise in project management, supplier management and the ability to lead complex projects
- Positive, proactive and committed attitude
- Expertise in DO-178 and DO-330 processes
- Experience with FAR 25/525 certification process and ARP4754 standard
- Experience working with civil aviation authorities and airworthiness organizations
- Proficiency with Google Suite tools to produce presentations and reports
- Able to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment
- Strong written and spoken communication skills in French and English
