What are your contributions to the team?
- Understand internal and external customer needs (requirements) by collecting and analyzing data, and critically reading contracts and statements of work.
- Establish and maintain relationships with internal and external collaborators on planning, technical, and commercial aspects.
- Support, where applicable, the Defense Procurement team in establishing sourcing strategies for development programs.
- Research, analyze, and document opportunities in supply chain processes to improve overall supply chain effectiveness.
- Identify and realize total cost optimization opportunities (savings) by product families.
- Negotiate favorable agreement and purchase order terms with suppliers for the procurement of goods, services, and supplies.
- Plan, track, analyze, and monitor the balanced scorecard and key performance indicators.
- Represent Supply Chain through the change management process.
- Negotiate and close impact statements in a timely manner.
- Lead supplier PMRs in conjunction with business units and commodity teams.
- Lead or support the Request for Proposal (RFP) process, including drafting the RFP.
- Work closely with the buying team on compliance and tracking of purchase orders.
- Become knowledgeable on how to place defense purchase orders in SAP.
How to thrive in this role?
- Bachelor's degree in business/management or engineering preferred; other forms of education will be considered.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in proposal, procurement, or supply chain management, complemented by 5 years in a defense or equivalent role interacting with state actors (e.g., U.S. Department of Defense).
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and produce high-quality deliverables.
- Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to interface effectively at all levels of the organization.
- Exceptional organization in managing documentation and supplier data, ensuring accuracy, accessibility, and compliance (negotiations, purchase order placement).
- Canadian permanent resident or Canadian citizen, and able to obtain required security clearances.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience as a Supply Chain representative supporting global defense / DoD proposals.
- Familiarity with international defense acquisition processes, including RFP structures, flow-downs, and compliance standards.
- Knowledge of US FAR and DFARS or equivalent international defense contracting practices and laws.
- Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar).
- Experience in the Aerospace & Defense industry or a government contracting environment.
- Knowledge of ITAR/EAR regulations, cybersecurity compliance (CMMC), and supply chain security principles.
- Understanding of cost estimating, supplier negotiations, and BOE development in a defense context.
- Experience with proposal pricing tools (e.g., ProPricer) and reporting dashboards (e.g., Power BI).
- Experience managing defense and US DoD purchase orders.
Please note this is a Montreal-based role that requires on-site presence at least two days per week (sometimes more based on business needs and policy).
Up to 10% domestic and/or international travel may be required to support trade shows, supplier meetings, and site visits.
Candidates must be able to work in English and French; ability in additional languages is an advantage.
