Job description

The Volunteer for International Experience (VIE) is a unique international program sponsored by the French Ministries of Europe and Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Economy and Finance and the Ministry of Ecological Transition and Territorial Cohesion, open to Airbus to offer young professionals the opportunity to have valuable paid work experience abroad in a technical or business function.

The VIE is a specific contract, under Business France's eligibility criteria.

VIE main requirements

  • European Union citizens (plus Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein, and Monaco), graduates up to and including 28 years old (a V.I.E mission can begin no later than the day of the twenty-ninth birthday).
  • Have fulfilled military obligations for their country, if any.
  • Must be registered on the Mon Volontariat International website before the age of 28.

The contract duration of VIE is between 6 to 24 months.

A VIE for a Expert en Veille et Intelligence Technologique / Technology Scouting and Intelligence Expert has arisen within Airbus CANADA in Mirabel. You will join the Tech Hub.

Tasks & accountabilities

Your main tasks will include:

  • Facilitate and leverage technology scouting and intelligence by gathering and assessing information in the fields of science and technology, either based on defined scouting needs or external opportunities, with a coverage focused on Canada.
  • Manage a portfolio of grouped technologies.
  • Ensure a clear and robust definition of needs in alignment with internal stakeholders.
  • Identify and manage external companies.
  • Identify partners with relevant capabilities, supported by subject matter experts.
  • Ensure a strong network and relationships with key research institutes and all major stakeholders in the technical field.
  • Prepare reports on scouting, client needs, and technology trends.
  • Facilitate the launch, monitoring, and closure of projects in coordination with internal clients and R&T support.
  • Comply with Airbus CANADA management policies.
  • Maintain knowledge of the company, its products, services, and activities, as well as the commercial and technological priorities of Airbus and its R&T and Innovation ecosystem.
  • Advise on and implement specific technology or methodology use cases.
  • Collect, research, and suggest solutions to meet requirements.
  • Advise on implementation methodology and approach.
  • Prove the value of new technologies to build business cases.
  • Update company guidelines and policies regarding the use of a specific technology or methodology.
  • Evolve the learning framework based on known technology.
  • Monitor technological and/or methodological trends and support teams in applying them within the Airbus environment.
  • Guide and support the selection of appropriate technologies and/or methodologies.
  • Formulate recommendations for "make or buy" (purchase or internal development) decisions.

Business travel is to be expected; therefore, you must be willing to travel accordingly.

Required skills

You have the following skills and experience:

  • Degree (or equivalent) in aerospace/engineering or a related discipline.
  • Experience in technology scouting/innovation, with a technical interest in AI.
  • Knowledge of and passion for new technologies, with the technical acumen to assess their relevance.
  • Ability to autonomously develop Proof of Concepts (POCs).

In addition, you are able to demonstrate the following competencies:

  • Ability to build trust and open relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners.
  • Autonomy and self-reliance.
  • Cultural sensitivity to operate successfully in a fast-paced global environment.
  • Language skills: Fluency in English with excellent communication skills (both written and verbal).
